Jury in Kyle Rittenhouse trial reaches verdict

Jurors in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial have reached a verdict.

It is not immediately clear when the verdict will be announced. The deliberations began on Tuesday.

Emotions have risen in anticipation of the verdict, with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers deploying National Guard troops to Kenosha.

Rittenhouse faces five charges, including intentional homicide, for shooting that killed two men and wounded a third during last year's Kenosha riots.

The case has left Americans divided over whether the 18-year-old Rittenhouse was a patriot who opposed anarchy or a vigilante.

Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, were shot dead and Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, was wounded.

Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed a weapons charge against Rittenhouse on a technicality about the length of the gun's barrel.

A seventh charge against the teenager for violating the curfew the night of the shooting was also dismissed after the judge ruled that prosecutors did not present sufficient evidence.
